Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain English, what information Syncally handles, why we handle it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Effective date: August 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. It should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel, against the laws that apply to your business and users, before being treated as final.
1.Who this policy covers
Syncally is a local discovery and marketplace platform where customers find nearby businesses and independent service providers, and where those businesses respond to customer requests. This policy explains what information we handle when you browse Syncally, create an account, list a business, post a request or contact support.
It applies to the Syncally website and installable app at syncally.ca, together with our other Syncally web addresses. Syncally is operated as part of the Syncally platform, and your Syncally account can be used across Syncally products.
2.Account information
When you create an account we collect the information needed to identify you and keep the account secure: name or display name, email address, an optional phone number, your password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider), the language and region you use the site in, and your sign-in history.
If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive the basic profile details that provider shares with us — typically your name, email address and provider account identifier. We do not receive your password for that provider.
3.Business information
Business owners provide information intended to be shown publicly on Syncally. This normally includes:
- Business name, description, categories and services offered
- Contact details you choose to display, such as a phone number, email address or website
- Business address or service area, opening hours and pricing information
- Photos, logos and other media you upload
- Credential, licence or insurance details you submit for verification, where applicable
Some business information is deliberately public. Anything you publish on your listing can be seen, copied, shared and indexed by search engines. Please do not put private information into public fields.
4.Customer information
When you use Syncally as a customer we handle the information needed to connect you with businesses: the searches you run, categories you browse, listings you save, requests you post, messages you send, quotes you receive, bookings you make and reviews you write.
When you contact a business or a business responds to your request, the details you included become visible to that business. Only share what you are comfortable sharing with a local provider.
5.Contact information
We use your email address and, where you provide it, your phone number to send account and security messages, deliver responses to your requests, notify you about activity on your listing or request, and reply to support tickets. Businesses may see the contact details you choose to share with them when you contact them or post a request they respond to.
6.Location and service-area information
Syncally is a proximity-based marketplace, so location is central to how it works. We handle location in three ways:
- Location you type in, such as a city, region or postal code used to run a search.
- Device location, only when you tap the “use my location” control and your browser grants permission. We use it to centre the map and to find businesses within the radius you selected. You can revoke that permission at any time in your browser or device settings.
- Business location and service areas, which businesses provide themselves. Businesses can choose to hide an exact street address and show only an approximate area or service radius.
We also derive an approximate location from your IP address to show relevant local results and to detect suspicious sign-in activity.
7.Requests posted by customers
When you post a request, the details you submit — the service you need, timing, budget range, the area you are in and any description or photos — are shared with businesses that can serve that request so they can respond. Requests may also be shown in a limited public form to help nearby businesses find work. Personal contact details are not published in the public view of a request.
8.Business listings
Listings on Syncally come from businesses that create or claim a profile, and from publicly available local business information that helps us build out early coverage in a city. If you are the owner of a listing you did not create, you can claim it to take control of the information, or contact us through the Contact & Support Center to ask for it to be corrected or removed.
9.Reviews and ratings
Reviews are published with the reviewer’s display name and the date, and they are visible to anyone. We keep limited technical details about a review submission (for example the account that submitted it and general device signals) so we can investigate suspected fake or manipulated reviews. Removing a review does not always remove it from our records immediately, because we may retain it for abuse investigation.
10.Photos and uploads
Photos, logos and documents you upload are stored with our hosting and storage providers. Public photos, such as listing galleries, are served through public or signed links and can be viewed by anyone who has the link. Documents you submit for verification are treated as internal and are not published on your listing. Image files can contain embedded metadata such as capture location; please remove it before uploading if you do not want to share it.
11.Device and browser information
Like nearly all websites, we receive technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and operating system, device type and screen size, language settings, referring page, the pages you view and timestamps. We use this to render the site correctly, fix errors, measure performance and detect abuse.
13.Analytics and product measurement
We measure how Syncally is used so we can improve it: which categories are searched, how often requests receive responses, which pages produce errors, and how listings perform. Businesses can see aggregated performance metrics for their own listing, such as views and contact clicks. We do not sell your personal information.
14.Security and fraud prevention
We use technical and organisational measures to protect the platform, including encrypted connections, access controls, database-level access rules, rate limiting, verification steps and automated abuse detection.
No online service can promise perfect security, and we do not claim that your information is completely secure. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us through the Contact & Support Center immediately.
15.Communications
We contact you about things that relate directly to your use of Syncally: account and security notices, verification codes, responses to your requests, activity on your listing, support ticket updates and important changes to our terms or this policy. Service messages of this kind are part of having an account. Where we send optional messages, each one includes a way to opt out.
16.Email notifications
Email is our primary notification channel. Our email provider processes your email address, the message content and delivery events such as bounces and complaints so we can tell whether a message was delivered. Repeated bounces or a spam complaint may cause us to stop emailing an address, which can prevent you from receiving important account messages.
17.Push notifications
If you install Syncally as an app and allow notifications, your browser or operating system gives us an anonymous push token so we can deliver alerts about new responses, messages or nearby activity. The token is tied to the device, not to your identity, and you can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
18.Phone verification
Where phone verification is offered, we send a one-time code by SMS through a messaging provider and record that the number was verified, when, and how many attempts were made. We use this to reduce fake accounts and fraudulent requests. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
19.Payment and subscription information
Where a business pays for a subscription, advertising placement or other paid feature, payment is processed by a third-party payment provider. That provider handles your card details; we do not store full card numbers. We do keep records of the plan, billing status, amounts, invoices and payment outcomes so we can operate accounts, provide receipts and meet accounting and tax obligations.
20.Third-party service providers
Syncally runs on third-party infrastructure. We use service providers for hosting and application delivery, database and authentication, file storage, maps and geocoding, email delivery, SMS delivery, payments, error monitoring, analytics and AI-assisted support answers. These providers process information on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes described in this policy.
Some providers operate outside your country, which means your information may be processed in another jurisdiction. We also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud, protect our users or defend our legal rights.
21.Data retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected: published listings and reviews stay until removed, requests and messages are kept so both sides keep their history, support tickets are retained so we can handle follow-ups, and billing, verification and abuse records are kept for the period required for legal, accounting and security reasons. When information is no longer needed we delete it or keep it in an aggregated form that no longer identifies you.
22.Account deletion
You can ask us to delete your account through the Contact & Support Center. When we delete an account we remove or anonymise your profile and personal details. Some content does not disappear entirely: reviews may remain in an anonymised form, messages already delivered to another party remain in their history, and we retain limited records where we are legally required to or where they are needed to prevent fraud and abuse.
23.Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to the limits described above
- Withdraw a permission you previously gave, such as device location or notifications
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information
- Receive a copy of information you provided to us
- Complain to your local privacy regulator
You can exercise these rights through the Contact & Support Center. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
24.Children’s privacy
Syncally is intended for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account or provided information, contact us through the Contact & Support Center and we will remove it.
25.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Syncally changes. When we do, we publish the updated version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we also notify account holders. Continuing to use Syncally after an update means the updated policy applies to you.
26.Contacting us about privacy
For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, or concerns about how your information is handled, use the Contact & Support Center and choose the account, security or privacy category. Support requests are tracked so you can follow up on the same issue.
